Print a large image on A4 paper

A4 poster printing is the simplest way to build a large poster on a home printer outside North America. Split your image into multiple A4 pages, choose rows and columns, and export a PDF that prints at the correct size.

Common A4 poster grids

A4 measures 210Ă—297 mm. A 2Ă—2 portrait grid uses 4 sheets (~420Ă—594 mm). A 3Ă—3 grid uses 9 sheets (~630Ă—891 mm), close to a 24Ă—36 in poster.

Portrait A4 tiles are the best default for predictable wall proportions. Landscape is useful when the image is naturally wide.

Print settings that matter

Disable Fit to page / Shrink to fit in your printer dialog. Those options change tile size and make assembly harder.

Window-pane mode is easier for first-time assembly; seamless mode gives cleaner edges after trimming overlaps.

  1. Choose an A4 grid that matches the poster size you want, such as 2Ă—2, 3Ă—3, or 4Ă—3.
